According to the general definition, bulk material is a powdery, grainy to granular-shaped or also lumpy mixture that is present in a pourable form. This means that it can be moved in a coherent form.  

The air consumption of a pneumatic conveying system depends on the bulk material to be conveyed, the conveying method, the conveying system used, the desired conveying capacity and the conveying distance.

The use of mills and crushers depends on the subsequent process and the respective bulk material. For boilers, we use mills whereas for flue gas cleaning, we rely on crushing systems.

A complete silo discharge requires precise knowledge of bulk material. STAG has a broad know-how in this area, and the corresponding products are included in its product portfolio. Silos and bunkers with easily flowing products can be equipped with pneumatic discharge aids, and for poorly flowing products, these discharge aids can be completed with mechanical assemblies. The technical limits of conveyor systems depend on various factors. The use of new technologies helps to shift or overcome existing limits.

By means of appropriate means, dust-free filling of bulk goods into a tight container can be easily realised. For the filling of lorries and railway wagons, we use loading devices or pressure conveying vessels. Filling adapters are used for small containers and specially designed tipping stations with docking chutes are employed for the rapid filling of large containers.

It is possible to operate mechanical units, such as trough chain conveyors, reversibly. However, due to the geometry of the drive sprocket, longer reversible operation should be avoided.

This can be ensured through an optimal design of the pressure vessel defining appropriate angles and corners for the intended product. The equipment of the railway wagon with an adapted discharge system is a decisive factor as well.
