Social Project Street Children/Adolescents in Romania

I would like to take the opportunity to express my thanks for the generous charitable contributions I received. I am deeply grateful to STAG and its customers for their important support. Without this financial assistance, it would not be possible to realise many of our projects.

Mirrored Tears  /  Annual Report 2019

Conny Doller (2019-11)

The house of Lazarus belongs to the organization Concordia. Concordia is an independent, non-governmental organization with the mission to (re)integrate children, young people and their families socially, familial, educational and professional and to accompany them in an independent and self-determined life. The Lazarus Social Centre served for over 17 years as an emergency shelter for homeless children, young people and adults. When I came to this house for the first time in 2012, I could hardly believe what I saw and experienced. I was dealing with seriously ill, injured, disabled and severely traumatized young people.

What is the current goal and what happens with the donations

As you know, in November 2019 a two-day charity event took place in my home town of Göfis. For me these two days remain unforgotten and with joy the experience is still deep in my heart. The proceeds of this charity event will be donated to the social centre Lazarus.

The Lazarus House is undergoing a major restructuring, as the city of Bucharest now also provides services for the homeless. For this reason Concordia has started to turn to another target group of needy people who are not covered and cared for by the state. The Children's Office has approached Concordia with the request to help the disabled people, because they were former street children and now they are adults who nobody helps. In Bucharest, there is no organization or center that helps these people. These people are always victims on the streets, but now they find one at home.

In this context, the services in the Lazarus Social Center are being reorganized to offer the following in the future:

  • 16 places as sheltered housing for adults with mental disabilities
  • 20 places for social housing and job support
  • 4 emergency sleeping places for homeless people
  • Number of beneficiaries per year: 40 persons

In July 2019, I was back on site and held long discussions about the restructuring and its financing. The house Lazarus a former school, needs urgent renovation.

Needed support:

  • Doors for the bedrooms (about 30 pieces)
  • Radiators/radiators (approx. 40 pieces)
  • Refrigerators
  • beds and mattresses (approx. 40 pieces)
  • Sheets and bed linen (approx. 80 pieces)
  • Clothes and shoes
  • Other repairs and other small investments
  • Sports equipment for the sports hall (football goals)

It is planned to start the conversion in December 2019. The hygiene and dental project will continue to be promoted and supported.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the sponsors for supporting my project. I very much hope that you will continue to support me in the future, because without you, this project cannot continue.

With best regards, "The Mirrored Tears"
